The Purpose Behind the Power Up Conference

Although it was pleasant to have an extra day off of school, the main reason that all of us attended the Power Up Conference was to learn. During the Power Up Conference, each one of us learned something new and expanded our horizons. Here are some of the different topics that were taught:

A Little More About the Conference

The purpose of the conference was to develop an awareness of things we post on social media. Furthermore, the presenter "Mr. George Couros" told us what could be the possible consequences of having a positive digital footprint and have a negative digital footprint.

Mr. George Couros was the main speaker for the Power Up Conference. He is an intelligent man who is a principal. Mr. Couros taught us about most of the topics that we learned about. 

The importance of Having a Positive Footprint on the Internet

The internet alone can give you either a bad reputation or a good reputation. It is important to make sure that you end up with the later. As time goes on, employers are looking at your social networking more and more often, to ensure that you are the person that you appear to be during your interview. If you are not as good a person as they thought you were, you may lose a job opportunity, but if you have a positive online presence, you will have improved your application.

Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying is a relatively new version of an extremely old issue. Sometimes bullies think that it's not as bad to say something rude about someone it it's only online, but it's quite the opposite. Cyberbullying never leaves a person no matter where they are or what they're doing, because however far a one may go, it is difficult to escape the internet, especially since the internet is so important in all  of our lives. Another problem with cyberbullying is for the bullies themselves. As stated above, it is important to have a positive footprint on the internet, and one of the biggest things that could give off a negative footprint is bullying. Bullies will never be able to leave their reputation behind, no matter how long ago the incidents happened. DON'T BE A BULLY!
